DIY Panel Repair vs Calling a Pro: When It's Worth Doing Yourself

Safe to DIY

Stone chips and small paint nicks — use a manufacturer touch-up pen (matched to your VIN's colour code).

Light scuffs on plastic bumpers — cutting compound and polish can remove transfer marks.

Headlight lens restoration kits — genuinely effective on yellowed lenses.

Call a panel beater

Anything involving metalwork, filler or respraying a panel. Colour-matching modern automotive paint is a trade — DIY rattle cans never blend.

Anything structural, including bent guards and bumper-bar damage. Misalignment will throw out crash safety and tyre wear.
